About Me

Ever since I was a little kid, being immersed in nature has been my way of resetting my perspective on the world.

I've been backpacking and hiking since I was about 6 years old. When I was a kid, I used to carry an "automatic" Kodak film camera when I would go hiking with my Dad in the Adirondacks. I took tons of pictures, some of which came out alright despite my complete lack of knowledge. Somehow, I managed to avoid the "proper" photography bug until I was on my own and had my own disposable income.

I got my first DSLR in 2010 and started learning the techniques to take compelling landscape and wildlife photos. I even did some experimenting with lugging my rather heavy setup on some backpacking trips. Since then, I've migrated to a mirrorless camera system and ultralight backpacking gear in the hopes that it will allow me to have the best of both worlds: a manageable pack weight and the ability to capture truly fantastic images to share with other people.

In addition to sharing those images here, I'm also hoping to provide a resource for people interested in capturing moments in nature. Some of the most incredible locations to visit require going in by foot. This means optimizing what you're carrying for the photographs you're hoping to get out of the trip. I hope that by documenting what I'm trying and learning that I can help other people to produce beautiful images of remote places.
